Katherine Khoo

Pet Nutritionist and Founder,
Wisetroop Pte. Ltd.

Asian lady, founder and pet nutritionist of Wisetroop, Katherine Khoo, with her pet dog, Nicol

When my two dogs, Wendy and Nicol, began facing serious health challenges in their later years, I found myself in the same position as many of the pet owners I now work with. Wendy was managing severe osteoarthritis, and Nicol had been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. As a human nutritionist, I understood the importance of diet in managing chronic conditions — but when I went looking for condition-specific dietary solutions for both of them, the options were limited, and both dogs refused the veterinary prescription kibbles.

So I did what any nutritionist would do. I started learning.

Wisetroop was born out of a deeply personal experience

What began as a personal pursuit to support my own dogs evolved into a deep and genuine passion for therapeutic pet nutrition. Through formal study and hands-on application, I discovered not only the science behind canine and feline nutrition, but also the profound difference that the right diet can make to a pet's quality of life. It was a turning point — and Wisetroop is the result.

Wendy lived to 17.5 years. Nicol reached 16. I believe wholeheartedly that nutrition played a meaningful role in both of their journeys.

Whole-Animal.
Evidence-Informed.
Practically Applied.

Freshly cooked dog food, colourful and fresh with visible pieces of animal proteins, carrots, pumpkin and other vegetables.

Good nutrition is one of the core pillars of your pet's health and wellbeing but it does not exist in isolation.

Over 12 years of clinical practice as a human nutritionist, working with clients managing a wide range of chronic conditions, I learned to look beyond the immediate diagnosis and ask a more fundamental question: what is the root cause? That same principle guides every pet nutrition case I take on at Wisetroop.

When I work with a dog or cat, I look at the whole animal, not just the symptoms. That means considering their current and past health history, living environment, physical activity levels, and the practical realities of the owner's lifestyle and preferences. Where nutrition alone is not sufficient, I will always say so, and I will not hesitate to recommend that the owner seek the appropriate specialist support alongside our nutritional work.

This collaborative, whole-animal approach is not just how I work. It is the foundation upon which Wisetroop was built.

Beyond Work

I have grown up surrounded by animals - dogs, cats, birds, and even chickens were all part of my family. That love for animals has never left me, and it is very much at the heart of why Wisetroop exists.

Today, I share my home with Cider, a seven-year-old domestic shorthair cat I recently adopted, who has seamlessly taken over the household in the way that only cats can. After years of sharing my life with Wendy and Nicol, and now with Cider, I understand what it means to love an animal deeply and to want the very best for their health and wellbeing.

That understanding is something I bring to every client and every case at Wisetroop.
