Pet Food Formulation
Whole-food Centred Approach to Pet Nutrition
Our philosophy is grounded in whole-food nutrition.
Supplements and nutraceuticals are incorporated only where there is a clear clinical rationale, or when necessary to meet AAFCO or FEDIAF nutritional guidelines.
Please note that Wisetroop does not formulate kibble or canned pet food products.
Pet Food Formulation Process
Quotation Request & Project Assessment
The formulation process begins with the submission of a Quotation Request Form. The form captures all essential project parameters like target market and species, diet type, life stage and therapeutic targets, raw ingredient limitations or preferences, number of recipes required, and project timeline.
Upon receipt of the completed form, Wisetroop reviews the project requirements and prepares a formal quotation tailored to the scope and complexity of the project. All quotation requests are reviewed and responded to within 3 working days.
Should any clarification be required following the form submission, Wisetroop will reach out directly before the quotation is prepared.
Quotation & Project Confirmation
Following the discovery meeting, a formal quotation is prepared and submitted to the client.
A 50% deposit is required to confirm the project and initiate formulation work. Work commences upon receipt of the deposit.
Database Creation
Before formulation begins, all raw ingredients specified for the project are verified within the formulation software. Where ingredients are absent or require updating, a project-specific, verified ingredient database is built to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all nutritional data used in the formulation process. This stage is a critical foundation. The precision of the final recipe is only as reliable as the ingredient data it is built upon.
Recipe Formulation
With the ingredient database confirmed, formulation work begins. Each recipe carries a delivery timeline of three working days from the commencement of formulation.
Each recipe is developed with careful consideration of the following parameters like target species and life stage constraints, nutritional safety caps - established lower and upper limits, ingredient inclusion ratios, nutrient ratios and functional yield analysis.
First Draft Review
The first draft recipe is presented to the client for review. Clients are given two weeks to evaluate the formulation and revert with feedback. This review period is also an appropriate time for clients working with a third-party manufacturer to reconfirm ingredient pricing and availability before proceeding to final formulation.
Formulation Refinement
Based on the client's feedback from the first draft review, remaining recipes are formulated and refined accordingly. Each recipe carries a delivery timeline of three working days.
Final Recipe Review & Substitutions
Completed recipes are presented to the client for final review. Clients are given three weeks to evaluate all recipes and revert with final feedback.
Each recipe includes up to three ingredient substitutions at no additional charge.
Please note that substitutions involving changes to the primary meat or organ protein source will be considered a new recipe formulation rather than an adjustment, and will be priced as a new recipe creation.
Substitution requests exceeding the three included per recipe will be billed at SGD 45 per substitution.
Final Report Delivery
Upon completion of all substitutions and final adjustments, a comprehensive Recipe Report is prepared and delivered to the client. The report includes the complete recipes, Guaranteed Analysis, detailed macro and micronutrient profiles, yield, detailed feeding and storage guide.
Final delivery of the Recipe Report is contingent upon receipt of the remaining 50% balance payment.

If you are working with a third-party manufacturer for production, the first draft review period is an appropriate time to reconfirm ingredient pricing and availability with your manufacturer before proceeding to final formulation.
Wisetroop's scope of work covers recipe formulation and nutritional strategy only. Production, procurement, and manufacturing are outside the scope of our services.
